ScheduleYarrow BucansIn June 2002, Yarrow, accessorized with a freshly sprained ankle from a kickboxing class, walked into a Bikram yoga studio in San Francisco. She was seeking a low impact form of exercise while her injury was healing. What she found was true love at first sweat. When Yarrow walked into that class, she was a flexible girl with no strength, studying for the LSAT, anxiety ridden, losing a battle with obsessive-compulsive disorder, and on a frustrating journey searching for her elusive self. Today, Yarrow is not a lawyer, she has curbed her obsessive-compulsive disorder, eradicated her anxiety, has built a good balance of strength in relation to her flexibility, and she knows her self. In fall 2006, Yarrow became a Bikram yoga teacher. Yarrow recently finished writing her third novel and is in the beginnings of her fourth. Yarrow intertwines her yogic lessons into fictional characters. Her dream is that her readers will learn a more yogic way of being through the characters she creates. Yarrow attributes her ability to complete a storyline to a broken heart and the healing that came from her yoga practice. “Without Bikram yoga I would still be lost in a sea of options with no clear sense of direction. My journey through yoga has been a combination of that which is beautiful and sweet, and that which is emotionally painful and soul wrenching. My practice has made me a more whole person, one who is able to connect with the vastness of the universe, and live my life the way it is meant to be lived, as the person I am meant to be. Yoga is life. And it is a life I am happy to live. |
